Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to BUSY School’s website where you can access a wide variety of information about BUSY Schools.

BUSY Schools is a nurturing, exciting and engaging place for students who have already disengaged or who may be at risk of disengaging from mainstream schooling. For many young people we are a second chance and we pride ourselves on our holistic and alternative approach to learning.

We focus on providing our students with a safe and supportive environment where they can work towards their QCE – and find a pathway to future employment.  We also support many young people in changing their mindset around a variety of things, including schools and learning.

At BUSY Schools we are very fortunate to have supportive and understanding teaching staff that are willing to show empathy and flexibility when it comes to their teaching styles and how they work with young people.  Since our opening, we have watched as the students have begun developing an interest in learning and an openness to communicate with adults and other students.  Students that began the journey isolated and unwilling to talk to anyone, let alone teachers, are now laughing with friends and joking with teachers.  We have seen students who believed they had no future in education realise they have the ability to do anything as long as they put in the effort.  Every day we go home knowing that we have helped to support young people and our community.

BUSY Schools is also fortunate to have a very close partnership with Skill360.  The trainers and mentors all work with our students to assist them as they progress from school to a valid career pathway.  They assist in providing qualifications, searching and applying for jobs, as well as endeavouring to move students into school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.  They also provide insight into life in a work environment, particularly in the world of trade.

As a new school, I cannot express how excited I am to see the BUSY Schools grow and develop into a beginning step to bright and successful futures for our young people.
